Francisca Pérez-Madrid is Professor of Law and Religion at the University of Barcelona. She is also a member of the Boarding Committee of the Consociatio Internationalis Iuris Canonici Promovendo, the International Association of Canon Law, and a corresponding academic member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation. She has provided consultations for the governments of Catalonia (Spain) and Andorra on issues related to freedom of religion and belief. She has published extensively on immigration, asylum and religious freedom, hate speech, euthanasia and assisted suicide, conscientious objection, and gender equality and religious freedom.
