Pavlo Smytsnyuk is a Mary Seeger O’Boyle Associate Research Scholar at Princeton University, USA. He specializes in political theology, Christian social teaching, and religious nationalism. Since 2021, he has been a member of the State Department’s Advisory Council of Religions and Ethnicities at Ukraine’s Ministry of Culture and Information and has led a number of international projects on peace-building and international humanitarian law. From 2019 to 2022, Smytsnyuk was the director of the Institute of Ecumenical Studies and a senior lecturer at the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv, Ukraine. He studied philosophy and theology in Rome, Athens, and St. Petersburg and has a doctorate from the University Oxford.
