Dr. Martina Bär is professor for fundamental theology at the University of Graz (Austria), editor of the Journal of European Society of Women in Theological Research, and president of the association “AGENDA—Forum for Female Catholic Theologians.” Her research focuses on urban theology, gender research, iconic turn, and theological anthropology. She studied theology and history at the Eberhard-Karls-University of Tübingen and at the Universidad de Comillas in Madrid. She received her doctorate from the University of Erfurt on the Imago Dei of man and woman. Bär was most recently a visiting professor for systematic theology in the Department of Catholic Theology at the Free University of Berlin (2018–22). She completed her habilitation in 2018 with a thesis about the interplay of the urban logic of postmodern cities and the logic of God. For this, she undertook two research trips to South America (Mexico City, Buenos Aires, and Huancayo).
