Maryanne Loughry is a Sister of Mercy and has been associated with Jesuit Refugee Service Australia since 1986, commencing her refugee work as a psychologist in detention centers and refugee camps in Southeast Asia. She is a visiting research scholar at the Center for Human Rights and International Justice, Boston College. She is also a research associate at the Refugee Studies Centre, University of Oxford, where from 1996 to 2004 she was the Pedro Arrupe tutor. Loughry has conducted research, program evaluations, and humanitarian training in the Middle East, Africa, the Balkans, Southeast Asia, and the UK.
